Illinois Attorney General's Office has filed a complaint against Baxter Healthcare Corporation in the Lake County Circuit Court!

S.P.I.L.L. applauds the Attorney General of the State of Illinois and the State's Attorney of Lake County for working to protect our environment by enforcing the state's environmental laws.

The US EPA maintains a website which allows anyone to access information regarding NPDES permit holders, including information regarding effluent exceedances and violations. The following PDF document is information gathered from the USEPA ECHO website (https://echo.epa.gov/trends/loading-tool/reports/effluent-exceedances/?permit_id=IL0024074) on December 21, 2017, with the parameter dates of only January 1, 2016 - December 20, 2017. This EFFLUENT LIMIT EXCEEDANCES REPORT, which is public information, shows Baxter Healthcare Corporation's Exceedances Count by Pollutant, Number of Exceedances, and the Number of Days with Exceedances. This information will be critical as this case moves forward.

From the Attorney General's webpage (http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/environment/index.html):
The Attorney General's Environmental Crimes Division and Environmental Enforcement Division enforce the state's environmental laws by both civilly and criminally prosecuting the state's worst polluters. In addition, the Attorney General's office works to stop pollution and ensure that polluters, not taxpayers, pay the cost of cleanup.
